Avan Jogia was born in Canada to British-born parents, with Welsh, English, Irish, and Gujarati Indian descent. He holds dual citizenship in Canada and the U.K.
When Avan is not busy with his acting career, he is working with his PSA organization, Straight But Not Narrow, that he founded, along with co-founders Andre Pochon & Heather Wilk, and his best friend Josh Hutcherson as active supporter and advocate.
The Straight But Not Narrow campaign is aimed toward changing attitudes and viewpoints of young, straight people about the LGBT community. The organization prepares and trains young adults on how to become allies of their LGBTQ peers. Avan and co. promote tolerance, talk to young people, and assist in starting LGBT alliance groups at universities, just to name a few things.
