I think the Dubstep breakdown in Hold It Against Me was a great move, and sounds great, and is fairly new for pop-radio, and it’s great when artists expand their horizons and start genre fusing. It is something new to her music and as cutting edge as you can get in pop without going too far and alienating your fans…
But don’t go overboard and start crediting her with the American Dubstep movement. Not only is that far-fetched, but if you keep that up, dubstep fans (like myself and others) are going to become resentful and bitter about it. I love that her and her producers went there, and it’s amazing, but DON’T overdo it. I’m guessing it’s the younger Brit fans/exhale members saying this, because the ones that have been around longer don’t act that way. Fans of newer artists are the ones expected to act that way. So stop. This is coming from a huge Britney fan.
What do you think?
